Equality for Gays And Lesbians Everywhere (EGALE) is Canada’s leading organization for 2SLGBTQI people and issues. They improve and save lives through research, education, awareness, and by advocating for human rights & equality; in Canada & around the world. This work helps create societies/systems that reflects the universal truth that “all persons are equal no matter who they love”

EGALE works with a variety of different groups on initiatives such as: LGBTQ youth support, bully prevention programs, workplace safety & anti-discrimination policies , memberships at Canadian clubs/ recreation facilities etc.
It was created after a large study done by Egale revealed rampant bullying amongst LGBTQ youth in schools all across Canada. They have partnered with the Canadian government to create a national action plan that will focus on LGBTQ youth & schools. The plan will work with educators, parents and students themselves to identify problems and offer solutions/treatments.
The Egale Canada website also posts current events in Canada related to 2SLGBTQI issues as well as upcoming events for youth groups around the country . It has quotes from celebrities such as Angelina Jolie , Anne Hathaway , Ellen DeGeneres & Elton John on equality for all people regardless of orientation or identity. And it even includes some research reports about AIDs rates in men-who-have-sex with men (MSM).
EGALE’s slogan is “Equality for Gays And Lesbians Everywhere”. However, most of their funding comes from the Canadian Federal Government. But they still operate independently and continue to work with other groups/organizations to improve LGBTQ lives every day.
EGALE has also partnered with many organizations all over the world that fight for equality for 2SLGBTQI people. Egale believes strongly that “working together is key to developing strategies that will help us create healthier communities where everyone feels safe, supported and valued regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity & expression”.
